From the artist: "The coyote is the trickster, an opportunist, and an expert hunter. Mark Twain described him as a 'living, breathing allegory of Want…he is always hungry.' There are many wonderful native legends about the wily coyote, and some of us grew up with cartoons starring this canine and his adventures with roadrunners. I felt moved to paint the coyote with brilliant color and movement in a dark midnight-blue sky. These are creatures of the night." - NDC
